[by:www.21voa.com] [00:00.00]¸ü¶àÌýÁ¦Çë·ÃÎÊ21VOA.COM [00:01.92]Police have recovered the body of a small boy [00:05.80]who was attacked by an alligator [00:08.19]at Walt Disney World, say officials in Florida. [00:13.56]The attack took place Tuesday night [00:16.12]as the boy played at the edge of a lake [00:19.52]on the grounds of the Seven Seas Lagoon. [00:23.64]The victim was identified as two-year-old [00:26.96]Lane Graves of Elkhorn, Nebraska [00:30.56]by Orange County Sherriff Jerry Demings, [00:33.84]reported the Associated Press. [00:37.24]The boy and his family [00:39.52]had gone to Walt Disney World for a vacation. [00:43.72]They were wading in the water along a beach area [00:47.72]when the alligator grabbed the boy. [00:50.80]The boy was less than one meter from the shore when he was taken. [00:57.08]Demings said the boy's father tried ¨C [01:00.72]but was unable ¨C to pull the two-year-old [01:04.16]from the jaws of the alligator. [01:07.16]The animal was reported to be longer than one meter. [01:12.92]More than 50 people, including an alligator tracker, [01:17.36]searched the area overnight. [01:20.76]More searchers joined the hunt on Wednesday. [01:24.84]The Reuter news service says wildlife officials caught [01:29.60]and killed five alligators to examine them for signs of the boy. [01:35.84]Officials say there have not been other alligator attacks at the lake, [01:41.44]but signs in the area warned people not to swim. [01:45.76]Beaches and docks along the man-made lake have been closed. [01:51.80]The lake is connected to other bodies of water [01:55.48]near Walt Disney World by canals, [01:58.68]and it feeds into another, larger lake. [02:02.76]Alligators are plentiful in Florida [02:06.72]and many states in the southeastern part of the U.S. [02:11.72]But experts say these kinds of attacks are not common. [02:17.60]Ten years ago, [02:20.48]an alligator drowned a small boy at a lake outside of Orlando. [02:26.16]The Associated Press reported [02:28.76]that the alligator was found 20 hours later, [02:32.56]still holding the boy in its jaws. [02:36.16]I'm John Russell.
