[00:13.00]The billionaire businessman bought Twitter [00:17.28]in October for $44 billion. [00:22.08]Musk wrote: "Should I step down as head of Twitter? [00:27.64]I will abide by the results of this poll." [00:32.72]To abide means to accept. [00:35.40]The poll closed on Monday and the results were in. [00:39.84]Out of more than 17 million voters, 57.5 percent said "yes." [00:46.80]Musk has not yet commented on the results. [00:52.88]Musk's actions and decisions over the past two months [00:58.44]have made many Twitter users quit [01:01.88]or think about quitting the social media service. [01:06.76]Last week, Musk banned a number of reporters from Twitter. [01:13.48]The journalists had a history of reporting on Musk's actions [01:18.52]as the head of Twitter. [01:20.24]They included writers for the New York Times, [01:23.96]Washington Post and Voice of America. [01:26.84]Musk later brought back most of those accounts [01:31.12]following an online poll. [01:34.96]Musk also removed Twitter accounts [01:38.56]that had been showing the location of his private jet. [01:43.08]He has also said he would not permit people or businesse [01:48.12]s to make posts on the service [01:50.76]directing users to other social media sites, [01:54.84]such as Instagram, Facebook and Mastodon. [01:59.24]Musk received sharp criticism from that decision, [02:04.28]even from people who had previously supported his leadership. [02:09.28]One of those former supporters [02:12.28]is well-known businessman Paul Graham. [02:16.04]Graham called the restriction [02:18.60]on promoting other sites "the last straw." [02:23.88]He added that his followers could find him on Mastodon. [02:30.84]Graham's Twitter account was suspended, then brought back. [02:38.08]Musk has described himself as a strong supporter of free speech. [02:43.68]When he took over Twitter, he said he sought [02:47.92]to make it available to people with widely different opinions. [02:53.52]But some critics say [02:55.80]his recent actions as CEO go against those promises. [03:01.80]Sally Buzbee is The Washington Post's executive editor. [03:07.44]One of the newspaper's reporters who covers Musk [03:10.68]was temporarily banned from Twitter. [03:15.52]Buzbee said, "the suspension occurred with no warning, [03:18.72]process or explanation – this time [03:21.76]as our reporter merely sought comment from Musk for a story." [03:28.08]In public comments with Twitter users on Sunday, [03:32.24]Musk said it would be hard to find a new CEO for Twitter. [03:39.76]Any future CEO, he said, "must like pain a lot ... [03:46.32]to run a company that has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy." [03:52.96]Musk said anyone with the skills and ability to keep Twitter alive [03:58.88]would probably not want the job. [04:02.76]"There is no successor," Musk added. [04:06.52]I'm Dan Friedell. 更多听力请访问21VOA.COM
