[00:30.08]Vaccine is the name of the new version.
[00:34.04]And it is a hit!
[00:36.40]Cordell's post received tens of thousands of views
[00:41.00]in just a few days since its posting.
[00:46.08]Parton's song is about a woman worried that she will lose her lover
[00:52.24]to Jolene, a desirable woman who can have any man she wants.

[01:19.28]Vaccine expresses a similar sense of longing,
[01:23.88]but for a very different object.

[01:46.60]The gently humorous lyrics came from Gretchen McCulloch,
[01:52.00]a language expert and writer.
[01:55.52]She posted the words to Vaccine online
[01:59.72]and invited people to record it.

[02:06.20]"I love that song. I love Dolly Parton,"
[02:10.04]he told The Boston Globe on Tuesday.
[02:13.04]"So I went and grabbed my guitar."
[02:17.52]Parton's gift to Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center

[02:25.80]to develop Moderna's experimental coronavirus vaccine.
[02:32.72]The drug company announced successful results for its vaccine this week.
[02:40.16]Cordell grew up listening to Parton's music
[02:43.44]and saw her sing at a show last year.
[02:48.24]He called that performance one of his "favorite musical memories."

[02:59.64]that she had contributed to COVID vaccine research," he said.
[03:06.24]Cordell hopes medical workers enjoy his video of Vaccine.
