[00:15.64]The band wanted a robot designed to fit the idea [00:20.04]for their new group of songs called #fakenews, [00:24.72]which was released last year. [00:28.72]Students from Sarajevo University’s electrical engineering school [00:33.72]agreed to build Robby for them. [00:37.88]“Our robot...likes to eat, drink, shout, he likes music,” [00:43.64]said Vedran Mujagic, the band’s bass guitar player. [00:48.88]He was most involved in designing the idea for Robby. [00:54.92]In a video for the #fakenews album, [00:58.68]one band member thinks it would be fun [01:01.44]to have a robot do his work while he has fun. [01:06.08]So, he orders one and puts it together. [01:10.56]Soon, the whole band is replaced by robots in the video. [01:16.36]That permits the men to go and party. [01:19.56]But, they then get locked out of their music recording space. [01:25.16]The robots then invite young women to dance and drink [01:29.96]as the men look on from outside. [01:34.40]“Every little thing is under machine control,” [01:37.96]Robby sings in a song called “Take My Job Away.” [01:43.44]The message - about “evil artificial intelligence [01:47.24]which takes jobs away from good people” [01:50.40]- is meant to be ironic, Mujagic said. [01:55.48]Almir Besic is one of the students who helped build Robby. [02:00.88]He said the project had been difficult because they knew nothing at first [02:05.36]about the 3D printing needed to build the robot. [02:10.48]They also lacked the necessary equipment. [02:14.24]The students used recycled materials to make the platform [02:19.16]on which Robby moves. [02:21.44]It took them about two years to complete the project. [02:27.32]Besic said, when Robby finally came to life, [02:31.04]it was very exciting “after so much effort, [02:34.68]so many hours spent working in the school to see that it works.” [02:41.12]The band Dubioza Kolektiv is known for its wide mix of musical styles [02:46.84]and social and political song lyrics. [02:51.84]Robby took part in the band’s weekly online performances [02:56.56]called “Quarantine Show” during restrictions put in place last year [03:01.76]to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
