[00:15.72]That information comes from a new opinion [00:19.52]by the consulting company PwC. [00:24.40]PwC questioned over 4,700 [00:29.04]chief executive officers, or CEOs, [00:33.44]from 105 countries and territories. [00:39.12]It released the survey results on January 15. [00:44.72]The survey's release came as business leaders, [00:48.76]political leaders and activists gathered [00:52.44]for the World Economic Forum's [00:55.20]yearly meeting in Davos, Switzerland. [00:59.68]Thirty-eight percent of the CEOs [01:02.88]said they were optimistic [01:05.40]about the strength of the worldwide economy. [01:10.16]That is up from 18 percent last year, [01:14.12]when the world was dealing with high inflation, [01:17.88]rising interest rates and more. [01:21.92]Even with more positive opinions on the economy, [01:26.52]the CEOs say they are increasingly worried [01:30.80]about their companies' ability [01:33.28]to deal with major future changes. [01:37.48]The survey found 45 percent of the CEOs [01:42.36]had concerns that their businesses [01:45.32]would not survive the next 10 years. [01:50.00]The business leaders say they are trying to make changes, [01:54.88]but they must deal with difficult government rules, [01:58.96]a lack of skills among workers and more. [02:03.84]Artificial intelligence, the survey found, [02:07.24]is seen as a way to make business operations faster. [02:13.16]But AI is also seen as a weakness. [02:17.92]Nearly 75 percent of the CEOs [02:22.16]said AI "will significantly change [02:25.92]the way their company creates, delivers [02:29.48]and captures value in the next three years," PwC said. [02:36.52]More than half the CEOs said AI [02:40.44]will make their products or services better. [02:44.60]But 69 percent noted that their workers [02:48.40]needed training to gain skills [02:50.84]to use the developing technology. [02:54.96]The CEOs also said they were concerned [02:58.64]about how AI would increase [03:01.76]online security risks and misinformation. [03:07.12]Organizers of the Davos meeting [03:10.20]warned last week that the threat [03:13.08]created by AI-powered misinformation [03:16.88]is the world's greatest short-term threat. [03:21.40]The PwC survey shows that climate change [03:25.44]is both an opportunity and a risk. [03:29.88]Nearly 33 percent of the CEOs [03:33.76]said climate change is expected to change [03:37.08]how they do things over the next three years. [03:41.64]More than 75 percent of the executives [03:45.44]said they have begun or completed [03:48.52]changes to increase energy efficiency. [03:53.08]But only 45 percent [03:55.36]noted that they have made progress [03:58.12]on taking climate risks into consideration [04:02.12]in financial planning.
