[00:03.76]Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, Nancy Grace Roman and Margaret Hamilton [00:12.44]are important names in American space exploration. [00:19.68]Jemison is an astronaut, as was Ride. [00:24.76]Scientists Roman and Hamilton worked with NASA, the American space agency. [00:34.16]Each woman is receiving a very high honor. [00:38.68]No, they are not being admitted into a space "Hall of Fame." [00:45.40]But this honor might be even better: [00:49.36]they are becoming Lego action figures. [00:54.76]Thanks to the work of a Lego fan [00:57.96]and editor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, [01:03.32]the four women will be represented in miniature toy form starting on November 1. [01:12.68]That is when people will be able to purchase [01:16.64]the first-ever "Women of NASA" Lego set. [01:22.81]The path to Lego fame began in the summer of 2016. [01:30.24]Maia Weinstock is the deputy editor of MIT News, [01:36.28]a publication of the famous university. [01:40.80]She is also a Lego fan. [01:45.20]According to a story in the publication, [01:48.72]Weinstock has an interesting hobby. [01:52.40]She makes Lego figures representing important people in the history of MIT. [02:01.64]But, most recently, she decided not to limit herself to MIT. [02:09.00]Weinstock thought bigger and submitted the names [02:13.92]of five women to Lego's "Ideas" website. [02:20.12]She called her submission "Ladies rock outer space!" [02:26.16]and described how important those women were to U.S. space exploration. [02:34.68]As soon as 10,000 people expressed their support for the set, [02:41.52]Lego announced it would produce it. [02:46.04]In February, Lego said Weinstock's set would be the next Ideas set. [02:55.00]And on Wednesday, the toy-maker announced the set would be available in November. [03:03.92]The fifth woman in Weinstock's proposal was Katherine Johnson, [03:09.68]an African-American mathematician made famous by the recent film "Hidden Figures." [03:18.32]However, Lego could not agree with Johnson and her family about the look of the figure. [03:26.52]So, it was not produced. [03:29.16]The set also includes representations of the Hubble space telescope [03:36.45]and the Challenger space shuttle. [03:39.68]Many Lego fans are excited by the news. [03:45.20]One Twitter user named Beth had a one-word reaction: "Woohooooooooo!!" [03:53.52]And that's What's Trending Today. [03:57.72]I'm Caty Weaver. [03:58.96]更多听力请访问21VOA.COM
