[00:11.08]NASA has found lines of "hydrated" salt minerals on Mars. [00:17.40]Scientists say these minerals would require liquid water to be created. [00:24.40]And where there's liquid water, they say, there could be life. [00:29.88]Jim Green is the director of planetary science at NASA Headquarters. [00:37.24]He said during a news conference [00:40.00]that "today, we are revolutionizing our understanding of this planet." [00:46.80]Doug McCuistion is the former head of NASA's Mars program. [00:53.44]He told the Boston Herald that "if they are announcing that they have [00:58.72]found easily accessible, freely flowing liquid water under the surface ... [01:04.76]that has massive implications both for the potential for life on that planet and sustainability of humans." [01:16.16]NASA has found evidence of water on Mars in the past. [01:21.44]In March, NASA said there was once more water on Mars than in Earth's Arctic Ocean. [01:28.76]They say more than four billion years ago, [01:31.96]Mars was covered with water 137 meters deep. [01:38.00]But nearly all of it has since evaporated into space. [01:43.68]I'm Mario Ritter.
