[00:36.00]after learning about the award.
[00:39.08]John became the 19th EGOT winner.
[00:42.60]Others include Viola Davis, Whoopi Goldberg,
[00:47.56]Jennifer Hudson and John Legend.
[00:51.40]The film covered his "farewell" performance
[00:54.08]at the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team,
[00:57.88]Dodger Stadium, in late 2022.

[01:05.92]traveling show, or tour, which started in 2018
[01:10.32]and continued through 2022
[01:13.24]after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

[01:24.76]The other nominees included the halftime show
[01:28.16]from the 57th Super Bowl, the 75th Tony Awards,
[01:32.64]a performance by comedian Chris Rock
[01:35.52]and the 95th Academy Awards, or Oscars.
[01:40.92]David Furnish, John's partner,
[01:43.32]helped produce the three-hour concert film.
[01:47.28]Furnish attended Monday's ceremony in Los Angeles.
[01:52.20]He said John was sleeping at his home in Great Britain.
[01:55.60]Furnish said he used a video call app
[01:59.08]to tell John the news.
[02:01.72]"We FaceTimed him. We woke him up
[02:03.96]in the middle of the night," Furnish said.

[02:09.40]replacement medical operation.
[02:12.52]U.S. President Joe Biden congratulated John

[02:19.20]"Sir Elton John has been a tidal wave

[02:25.16]and make hope and history rhyme," he posted.

[02:33.20]John said he appreciated the "unwavering support
[02:36.48]of my fans all around the world."
[02:40.32]He added: "Tonight is a testament to the power of the arts
[02:44.64]and the joy that it brings to all our lives.

[02:55.48]John has several Grammy Awards
[02:57.52]for his singing and recording career.

[03:03.20]for the Broadway musical Aida.
[03:06.80]He won two Oscars for writing songs in movies,
[03:10.16]first for "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"
[03:13.04]from The Lion King
[03:14.80]and "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" from Rocket Man.
