[00:00.04]The House of Representatives impeached President Donald Trump Wednesday
[00:05.92]for "incitement of insurrection" against the United States.
[00:12.28]Trump is now the only American president to be impeached two times.
[00:19.96]Two other presidents also were impeached and found not guilty of charges.
[00:27.48]Trump received the same ruling last year in his 2019 impeachment.
[00:35.64]The impeachment comes just seven days before Trump leaves office.
[00:41.76]President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn-in as president on January 20.
[00:50.44]The House voted 232 to 197 for impeachment.
[00:58.56]The vote came a week after thousands of Trump supporters
[01:03.28]carried out a deadly attack and occupation of the U.S. Capitol Building.
[01:10.36]The Congress was meeting at the time to officially declare
[01:16.00]Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
[01:22.40]Lawmakers and others fled and hid, among them Vice President Mike Pence.
[01:30.00]Five people died as a result of the violence.
[01:35.24]House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opened the impeachment debate.
[01:40.76]The Democrat said, "We know that the President of the United States
[01:46.12]incited this insurrection, this armed rebellion against our common country.
[01:53.36]He must go, he is a clear and present danger to the nation that we all love."
[02:00.96]Pelosi added that Trump has "repeatedly lied"
[02:05.88]about the results of the presidential election.
[02:09.68]Trump, she said, raised "doubt about democracy."
[02:14.92]Republican House member Jim Jordan of Ohio led a defense for the president.
[02:21.20]He said, "In seven days there will be a peaceful transfer of power
[02:27.20]just like there has been every other time in our country,
[02:32.08]but Democrats are going to impeach President Trump again.
[02:36.48]This doesn't unite the country."
[02:40.04]House minority leader, Republican Kevin McCarthy voted against impeachment,
[02:46.68]but he said, "The President bears responsibility for Wednesday's attack."
[02:53.08]Representative Liz Cheney, a powerful Republican lawmaker,
[02:58.36]and nine other Republicans joined Democrats in voting for impeachment.
[03:06.12]Cheney said in a statement before the vote,
[03:09.52]"There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States
[03:14.60]of his office and his oath to the Constitution."
[03:19.88]Dan Newhouse of Washington state
[03:22.52]is another Republican lawmaker who voted for impeachment.
[03:27.24]He said of the president, "Last week, there was a domestic threat
[03:32.64]at the door of the Capitol, and he did nothing to stop it."
[03:37.80]Newhouse said, "I will vote yes..." to applause from some in the House.
[03:44.24]Trump was charged with abuse of power
[03:47.12]and obstruction of Congress in his first impeachment.
[03:52.08]At the time, only Democratic lawmakers voted to impeach.
[03:57.72]The next month, the Republican-controlled Senate cleared Trump of all charges.
[04:04.52]This second impeachment will now go to the Senate for trial.
[04:09.72]Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, the outgoing majority leader,
[04:14.80]said the trial will not start until after January 19.
[04:20.72]He said it would be best "if Congress and the executive branch
[04:26.16]spend the next seven days completely focused"
[04:30.60]on a safe and orderly transfer of power to the incoming Biden Administration.
[04:38.04]McConnell was fiercely opposed to Trump's first impeachment.
[04:43.12]He has expressed no opposition to this one.
[04:47.08]He told members of the Republican Party that he is undecided
[04:52.16]about how he might vote in the trial.
[04:55.28]Several other Republican senators have expressed similar openness.
[05:01.96]With Vice President-elect Kamala Harris
[05:05.36]to become presiding officer and tie-breaking vote,
[05:09.80]Democrats will control the Senate on January 20
[05:14.88]for the historic second impeachment trial against Trump.

END OF TRACK. "END OF TRACK." The two men bowed. "Whoever was that person you were talking to?" she enquired, as soon as they stood together. The took of triumph faded from her eyes, she had grown worn and weary. The roses were wilting on the walls, the lights were mostly down now. Hetty, looking in to see if anything was wanted, found herself driven away almost fiercely. I only saw Master Jervie once when he called at tea time, The year 1747 was opened by measures of restriction. The House of Lords, offended at the publication of the proceedings of the trial of Lord Lovat, summoned the parties to their bar, committed them to prison, and refused to liberate them till they had pledged themselves not to repeat the offence, and had paid very heavy fees. The consequence of this was that the transactions of the Peers were almost entirely suppressed for nearly thirty years from this time, and we draw our knowledge of them chiefly from notes taken by Horace Walpole and Lord Chancellor Hardwicke. What is still more remarkable, the reports of the House of Commons, being taken by stealth, and on the merest sufferance, are of the most meagre kind, sometimes altogether wanting, and the speeches are given uniformly under fictitious names; for to have attributed to Pitt or Pelham their[112] speeches by name would have brought down on the printers the summary vengeance of the House. Many of the members complained bitterly of this breach of the privileges of Parliament, and of "being put into print by low fellows"; but Pelham had the sense to tolerate them, saying, "Let them alone; they make better speeches for us than we can make for ourselves." Altogether, the House of Commons exhibited the most deplorable aspect that can be conceived. The Ministry had pursued Walpole's system of buying up opponents by place, or pension, or secret service money, till there was no life left in the House. Ministers passed their measures without troubling themselves to say much in their behalf; and the opposition dwindled to Sir John Hinde Cotton, now dismissed from office, and a feeble remnant of Jacobites raised but miserable resistance. In vain the Prince of Wales and the secret instigations of Bolingbroke and Doddington stimulated the spirit of discontent; both Houses had degenerated into most silent and insignificant arenas of very commonplace business. "It certainly will be. Miss Widgeon," answered Maria, with strictly "company manners." "One who has never had a brother exposed to the constant dangers of army life can hardly understand how glad we all feel to have Si snatched from the very jaws of death and brung back to us." "Just plug at 'em as you would at a crow, and then go on your way whistlin'?" persisted Harry. "Hurroo!" echoed Hennessey; "that's the ticket." "Come forward, keeper," continued the baron, "and state how these arrows came into your hands!" "Yes." HoMEJULIA京香2018下载
