[by:www.21voa.com] [00:00.00]¸ü¶àÌýÁ¦Çë·ÃÎÊ21VOA.COM [00:00.60]A South Korean official says the United Nations may consider [00:06.68]new actions against North Korea if the country fires a long-range missile. [00:14.60]He said the possible actions include expanding a ban on the export of luxury goods and strategic materials to North Korea. [00:27.44]North Korea has recently made threats that suggest a possible rocket launch and nuclear test. [00:37.60]North Korea said it could launch a long-range rocket [00:43.32]to mark the 70th anniversary of the creation of the ruling Workers Party on October 10th. [00:53.68]The country is also expected to show off its military in a huge parade. [01:01.76]Oh Joon is South Korea's ambassador to the United Nations. [01:08.64]He warned that North Korea's action would lead to discussion by the U.N. Security Council of possible sanctions against the country. [01:21.24]"The existing measure bans the export of some luxury items and strategic materials to North Korea. [01:32.12]The scope of the sanctions could be expanded," he told VOA. [01:39.96]A 2013 Security Council resolution barred the movement of luxury goods into North Korea. [01:49.52]The banned products included high-priced automobiles, racing cars and some pieces of jewelry. [01:59.20]The measure also banned the transfer of any items that could help North Korea develop missiles or nuclear weapons. [02:10.24]Mr. Oh's comments suggest that additional sanctions are likely to target North Korea's rich and powerful rulers. [02:21.72]Late last month, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department said sanctions against North Korea [02:31.52]"seek to impose consequences on the DPRK regime, not on the North Korean people." [02:41.64]This week, North Korea's ambassador to Britain dismissed international criticism of his country's plan to launch a rocket. [02:52.44]He called it "the legitimate right of a sovereign state to develop a space program." [03:01.20]U.N. Security Council resolutions ban North Korea from conducting any launches using ballistic missile technology. [03:12.52]I'm Marsha James.
