[00:00.04]Workers around the United States who refuse
[00:03.84]to get vaccinated against COVID-19 may lose their jobs.
[00:09.56]Some say they do not want the vaccine
[00:12.76]because of religious concerns.
[00:16.24]Others say the government
[00:18.56]should not control what goes into their bodies.
[00:22.92]They are objecting to a federal mandate
[00:26.44]that requires workers from businesses
[00:29.28]with at least 100 employees
[00:32.96]to vaccinate or be tested every week.
[00:37.88]The mandate also extends to all federal employees
[00:42.64]and those working with the federal government
[00:46.64]or government-supported programs.
[00:50.24]This week, the Biden administration
[00:54.12]said the mandate will require workers
[00:56.68]to receive either two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines
[01:03.32]or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by Jan. 4
[01:10.68]or be tested weekly.
[01:12.88]Employees who test positive
[01:16.00]must be removed from the workplace.
[01:19.88]The federal government says its vaccination requirements
[01:24.68]will apply to about 100 million Americans
[01:29.44]or two-thirds of all U.S. workers.
[01:35.08]Business and labor leaders, however, worry
[01:38.68]that it will hurt the nation's economic recovery
[01:42.28]if thousands of workers suddenly lose their jobs.
[01:47.96]In Wichita, Kansas, nearly half
[01:51.28]of the roughly 10,000 employees at aircraft companies
[01:56.96]Textron and Spirit AeroSystems
[02:01.12]remain unvaccinated against COVID-19.
[02:05.84]Two Textron workers who requested religious exemptions
[02:11.24]to vaccine requirements said the company asked questions
[02:16.28]about their religious beliefs and church leaders.
[02:21.84]Textron told the Reuters news agency
[02:24.80]that it has to follow the federal mandate.
[02:28.32]The company added that workers who are unable
[02:32.04]to receive the vaccine because of medical
[02:35.60]or religious reasons were given a chance "to
[02:39.60]request an accommodation from this requirement."
[02:44.16]Cornell Beard is a local labor leader.
[02:46.96]He said, "We're going to lose a lot of employees over this."
[02:52.44]Beard said the workers did not object to the vaccine itself.
[02:57.84]But they are opposed to what they see as
[03:01.84]government control over personal health decisions.
[03:07.16]Beard said the labor group is now
[03:09.56]hiring lawyers to help the employees.
[03:13.20]They will prepare possible legal actions if requests for
[03:17.72]medical or religious exemptions to vaccination are denied.
[03:22.84]Health officials said vaccines remain the most effective way
[03:27.28]to prevent COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths,
[03:32.88]especially with the spread of the Delta variant.
[03:38.20]Many legal experts have said
[03:40.52]vaccine mandates in the interest of public health are legal.
[03:45.64]The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected
[03:48.60]several challenges to mandates.
[03:52.48]Last week, the high court turned away
[03:56.92]a healthcare worker who sought a religious exemption
[04:00.48]to a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
[04:04.68]Still, at a recent protest near Seattle,
[04:08.00]an employee of plane-maker Boeing called it "illegal,
[04:12.56]immoral and impractical."
[04:16.00]The worker said, "We are standing together
[04:19.44]against a company and government trampling on our rights."
[04:23.84]Some said they would retire early if they have to get the vaccine.
[04:30.16]Massachusetts-based Raytheon makes weapons,
[04:35.28]communications systems
[04:37.48]and air security devices for the U.S. government.
[04:41.96]Its leader warned that it will lose
[04:45.64]"several thousand" employees because of the mandate.
[04:50.16]Other large companies, including FedEx and UPS,
[04:54.80]say many of their employees will not be vaccinated in time.
[04:59.92]Mercedes-Benz, which also makes cars in the U.S.,
[05:03.96]said it gave employees 90 days to get the vaccine.
[05:08.64]So far, over half of them have.
[05:11.76]The company said it expects most of its employees
[05:15.92]will meet the requirement.

END OF TRACK. "END OF TRACK." The two men bowed. "Whoever was that person you were talking to?" she enquired, as soon as they stood together. The took of triumph faded from her eyes, she had grown worn and weary. The roses were wilting on the walls, the lights were mostly down now. Hetty, looking in to see if anything was wanted, found herself driven away almost fiercely. I only saw Master Jervie once when he called at tea time, The year 1747 was opened by measures of restriction. The House of Lords, offended at the publication of the proceedings of the trial of Lord Lovat, summoned the parties to their bar, committed them to prison, and refused to liberate them till they had pledged themselves not to repeat the offence, and had paid very heavy fees. The consequence of this was that the transactions of the Peers were almost entirely suppressed for nearly thirty years from this time, and we draw our knowledge of them chiefly from notes taken by Horace Walpole and Lord Chancellor Hardwicke. What is still more remarkable, the reports of the House of Commons, being taken by stealth, and on the merest sufferance, are of the most meagre kind, sometimes altogether wanting, and the speeches are given uniformly under fictitious names; for to have attributed to Pitt or Pelham their[112] speeches by name would have brought down on the printers the summary vengeance of the House. Many of the members complained bitterly of this breach of the privileges of Parliament, and of "being put into print by low fellows"; but Pelham had the sense to tolerate them, saying, "Let them alone; they make better speeches for us than we can make for ourselves." Altogether, the House of Commons exhibited the most deplorable aspect that can be conceived. The Ministry had pursued Walpole's system of buying up opponents by place, or pension, or secret service money, till there was no life left in the House. Ministers passed their measures without troubling themselves to say much in their behalf; and the opposition dwindled to Sir John Hinde Cotton, now dismissed from office, and a feeble remnant of Jacobites raised but miserable resistance. In vain the Prince of Wales and the secret instigations of Bolingbroke and Doddington stimulated the spirit of discontent; both Houses had degenerated into most silent and insignificant arenas of very commonplace business. "It certainly will be. Miss Widgeon," answered Maria, with strictly "company manners." "One who has never had a brother exposed to the constant dangers of army life can hardly understand how glad we all feel to have Si snatched from the very jaws of death and brung back to us." "Just plug at 'em as you would at a crow, and then go on your way whistlin'?" persisted Harry. "Hurroo!" echoed Hennessey; "that's the ticket." "Come forward, keeper," continued the baron, "and state how these arrows came into your hands!" "Yes." HoMEJULIA京香2018下载
